Online Hypnotherapy – Is it effective?

Absolutely yes!  During the pandemic a lot of my colleagues had to work digitally; it worked so well that it has remained an option, with some hypnotherapists now working solely online.  I first started using zoom while building up my required practice hours, using volunteers from the US, Greece and across the UK.

You can have therapy from the comfort of home, leaning back in your favourite armchair – a familiar environment is always more relaxing.  There is no travelling or trying to find a parking space, and no sitting in unfamiliar therapy rooms.  Some of my clients have had agoraphobia, and being able to stay in their home environment has really enhanced their hypnotherapy experience.  Other clients have been able to access my sessions while at work, during lunch breaks, or at the end of the working day.

You do need to have a quiet, private space where you won’t be interrupted, and you will need access to zoom with it’s camera.  You can work from wherever suits you, although I don’t recommend using a bedroom – simply because your brain associates the bed with falling asleep and you may drift off…

I work with zoom and, as a back-up (technology can be unpredictable) I use whatsapp, which a couple of my clients have actually preferred.  If you are going to use whatsapp please charge your phone first – you don’t want to be dropping out during the most relaxing moments!

I use exactly the same session format, language pattern and techniques as I would if you were in person, and the Hypnotherapy Bodies with which I am a member are stringent with their Codes of Ethics regarding working online.  I work from a designated study, with a visible lockable cabinet…and rather a lot of houseplants!

You will see a backdrop of plants…plants…and plants…and possibly a Labrador puppy…

If you aren’t too confident with technology you can use my free Initial Consultation as a trial run to see how comfortable you feel with linking in.   Once you’re linked in…just relax!
