Menopause

The transitional phase of peri-menopause and menopause can be, at the least, challenging.  Peri-menopause can last for several years before leading into menopause (defined as the time when you haven’t had a period for at least twelve months)  Symptoms include;

  • hot flushes
  • mood changes
  • anxiety
  • mood changes
  • memory issues
  • brain fog
  • skin changes
  • reduced sex drive
  • muscle and joint aches and pains
  • sensitive teeth and/or painful gums
  • changes in sleep pattern
  • night sweats
  • overactive bladder at night

This is largely due to a drop in oestrogen levels.  Symptoms may last for years following the transition and you may experience emotions such as anger, loss of control, confusion and a sense of loss.
